Art has the power to connect us to cultures around the world! In the latest art lesson at BMS, 7th grade visual art students explored the significance of masks in different cultures and traditions - from African tribal ceremonies to Venetian carnivals. They learned how masks are used for rituals, celebrations, and storytelling…gaining a deeper appreciation for cultural expression through art.
Inspired by their research, students designed and crafted their own unique masks, experimenting with form, color, and symbolism to reflect both traditional influences and personal creativity. This hands-on experience not only honed their artistic skills but also sparked curiosity about identity, tradition, and the role of art in different societies.
