Idyll Villarin, 2024 Woodhaven High School graduate is a finalist in the Michigan Bureau of Elections 2024 “I Voted” Sticker Contest.
A Brownstown resident, Villarin said creating the sticker was the final for her graphics class. She had to design multiple design concepts and ultimately uploaded two to be considered for the contest.
As part of the contest rules, she said it stated not to make it too focused on either party, so she decided to choose red, white and blue as well as make it Michigan centric.
“I was surprised to find out my submission was a finalist in the contest,” she said.
More than 480 submissions were received from Michiganders across the state for the contest. The top 25 submissions per category are available for online public voting to determine the top three winners for each submission category. Submission categories include elementary/middle school, high school, and general (open to all members of the public).
Voting will occur through the month of July, closing on July 31 at 11:59 p.m. Please use this link to vote in the elementary, middle, high school and general categories: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/elections/voting/2024-i-voted-sticker-contest
Winners will be announced in August and will receive special recognition from Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. Winning stickers will be available for election clerks to order for the November election.
Villarin will be attending Full Sail University in the fall where she intends to study graphics.
