Developing WBSD’s Elementary Schools
The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District has developed a comprehensive reconfiguration plan that has involved years of research and development.
The district’s five elementary schools - Bates, Erving, Gudith, Wegienka and Yake will change to a GSRP Preschool through 4th grade model for the upcoming fall 2024-25 school year. As the 5th grade students will move to the new Upper Elementary School, this provides space at the elementary buildings to help develop the district’s youngest learners in a comprehensive Early Childhood Development program.
Currently, Erving and Wegienka elementary schools are home to the district’s new GSRP - Great Start Readiness Program preschool classrooms. GSRP is a preschool program for 4-year-old children to prepare them for kindergarten. GSRP supports growth in academics as well as social-emotional, physical, and creative development. The GSRP program is slated to be expanded to all five elementary schools for the fall 2024 school year.
