The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District has developed a comprehensive reconfiguration plan that has involved years of research and development. Brownstown Middle School has been the home to 6th and 7th grade students, and in the fall of 2024 will be the new home for 7th and 8th grade students.
The school has experienced many upgrades inside and out over the last two years, including new boilers, water lines, new flooring throughout the school, new tiles and ceilings, as well as repainting in many areas. Updates to the school’s cafeteria have taken place as well as a new roof for the middle school. Many updates have taken place in regards to the safety and security features of the building, including updated doors and other features to the exterior.
The next phase of restoration at the school will be primarily focused on the exterior of the school. The major scope of the work will focus on the athletic facility upgrades to the track, football, soccer, baseball and softball fields. Work on the track and infield is slated for the summer.
7th grade - 8th grade Programming
Students in 7th grade will have new and expanded choices for elective classes. They include: Art 2D and 3D; Intro to Spanish; 7th grade Gym; Fit and Swim; Life Skills; and Construction and Exploring Tech and Music Tech.
Band and Chorus are also available for 7th grade students, with the addition of a new class, Music Tech, where students will have the ability to create electronic-style music. This class will be available to both 7th and 8th-grade students.
Students in 8th grade will have new and expanded choices for elective classes as well. They include: Career and Technology, Applied Technology which is a shop design and building class;
STEM class; two different gym classes - Life Sports and Team Sports; and Foods & Nutrition. Students in 8th grade will have the ability to start taking their first two high school credit classes including - advanced math - Algebra I, and foreign language, Spanish I. Band and Chorus are also available for 8th grade students.
