Mr. Mark Greathead
Superintendent
As a member of our community, a parent of a WHS 2017 and 2022 graduate and a Woodhaven-Brownstown School District child, and as its Superintendent of Schools, I am extremely proud of our school district. Our community is one that values its children and demonstrates that through tremendous support of the school district. The dedicated and professional staff of the WBSD thanks you for your support by providing the children of our community with the best educational experience possible.
Our Vision for the District is “Learning and Leading for Tomorrow” and our Mission is “Engage. Enlighten. Empower.” Together, our Vision and Mission Statements provide purpose and set direction for greater school improvement.
Woodhaven-Brownstown residents have overwhelmingly supported our schools by passing a $90 million Bond issue in 2002 and renewing a $10 million/10 year sinking fund in 2011. In 2014, district voters approved the non-homestead millage renewal by better than a 2-to-1 margin. This non-homestead millage does not apply to an owner-occupied primary place of residence but does provide $7 million in estimated revenues to the school district. This support has transformed the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District so that it now features renovated and updated facilities that provide a safe and enriching learning environment that compliment the community as well. Again in November 2015 and May 2021, residents passed two bond issues totalling $201.9 million which will benefit the district for years to come by providing additional facility improvements, updates to technology and equipment and improvements to athletics and playgrouonds establishing WBSD as a destination district.
The WBSD is relentless in its commitment to academic growth and social emotional health for our students.
Thank you for visiting our web-site. Please take the opportunity to visit our schools; I know you’ll be impressed. I’d also encourage you to visit the web-sites of the communities that we serve: City of Woodhaven and Brownstown Township.
Sincerely,
Mark Greathead
